Hazen Library Launches New Web Site

November 21, 2002/Shirley, Mass. —The Hazen Memorial Library, in a move to bring the Shirley community 24-hour access to high quality information, today announced the launch of a new web site.

The web site features a suite of web-based services including online research help, remote access to the library's catalog of books, DVDs, and other materials, and around-the-clock access to advertisement-free, full text articles from newspapers, magazines, and encyclopedias.

"The impetus for developing the web site arose out of the need to provide services for people who face special challenges getting to or using the library," said Linda Shea, Library Director.

The new web site is easy-to-use, has built-in accessibility features, and provides a 24-hour gateway to the information rich databases jointly funded by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners and the Central Massachusetts Regional Library System.

Extra Mile Design of Pepperell Massachusetts developed the web site's architecture and content, provided on-site HTML training for the library staff, and designed and authored a large print brochure to complement the new web site.
