Lawrence Library

We originally designed the library web site to reflect the sense of fun and community excitement of the library itself. The redesign focused on three things:

1. improved navigation
2. integrating the site with third-party tools
3. table-less design

We kept the fun.

All sections of the site can now be reached from each page in the site

To the right, you can see how we integrated Plymouth Rocket's EventKeeper calendar tool. Normally, the EventKeeper Calendar stands alone - it resides on the EventKeeper server and has a different look and feel. By nesting it into a page on the site, we maintained the site navigation as well as the site's colorful look and feel.

We took a slightly different approach to integrating the site with the BookLetters™ tool. BookLetters opens a customizing area for web designers, so we adapted the Lawrence Library navigation and layout for inclusion on the BookLetters web site.

The new design relies on Cascading Style Sheets for formatting and placement of all page elements, leaving the HTML coding clean and spare. Any future redesigns or repurposing of the content should be a lot easier!
