Mattapoisett Free Public
Library
Work-in-Progress.
Mattapoisett Library will be renovating and expanding
in the upcoming months. During the construction, the
web site will be integral in providing high quality
customer service, news about the construction, and access
to local and regional library services.
Some directives for the design
of the web site are:
- "Make it fun!"
- "Have animation."
- "THE guide to the Town's rich local history."
- "Provide for intergenerational interactions."
Watch us develop the site!
Here are drawings of key pages of the web site. We draw
before we start writing the HTML code, CSS, and JavaScript
(all this coding stuff lets you see the web site on
the Internet).
We cleaned these drawings up for
you. They did have lots of measurements and hexadecimal
numbers all over them! Give us your feedback,
we'd love to hear from you.
We gather LOTS of information from the client before we draw or code.
We always learn fascinating things about each community, and about the people. We like drawing, but this part is really fun, too!
After we complete the key drawings,
we start coding the site. (The drawings give us flexibility
to design the "look" of the site before delving
into the nitty gritty of coding.)
The drawings and coding follow
extensive information gathering about the needs of the
customer. In this case, we authored a survey edited
by the Library Director, Judy Wallace. Judy distributed
the survey to 700 plus people. Ms. Wallace completed
our questionnaire, and we ran a focus group of staff
and stakeholders. We wrote a "creative brief"
based on this information. All of this and we haven't
started coding yet!
Before we start the drawings, we
map out the architecture of the whole site. You can
download a .pdf
(1229k) of the map or "story board" as we call it. More coming soon... |
