Rupununi Learners
The Rupununi Learners Foundation (RLF)
has been hard at work in the small town of Yupukari,
in western Guyana.
Before the RLF, Yupukari schools
typically had just one book. No maps, no posters, no
"manipulatives," nothing but one book and
a blackboard for all grades. Now there are libraries in all three schools, and a public library in the village. Over 6500 books were added in the first year!
The original web site (which we created two years ago) was used for following
the progress of building the library, for fund-raising,
and for soliciting books.
The current site emphasizes the progress made, and invites people to the Rupununi for a wilderness eco-vaction.
The "Come Visit" pages are sprinkled with Flash slideshow galleries which run seamlessly on the page, thanks to Todd Dominey of Dominey designs.
